Warren Buffett Sells These 7 Stocks

Recently, I wrote about the great value investor, Warren Buffett and introduced his latest dividend stock buys. This blog is dedicated to stocks with a long history of dividend growth.

I like those stocks, especially when they offer a bigger part of safeness due to a large diversification.

Today I like to show you those stocks that Warren Buffett sold within the recent quarter. In total, he decreased seven positions.

These are the results with the highest dividend yield....

4 Most Hated Dividend Stocks You Should Know Before You Invest

Shorting stocks is always risky for investors. But it can be a sure way to avoid burning cash when a company's shares crash, making it worth the bet.

Well, it’s not the classic way for dividend growth investors. I've looked at my dividend growth database and noticed that most of the stocks have a low short interest rate and float short.

Today I like to give you an overview what kind of stocks have the highest share of short sellers in their shareholder structure.

These are the 4 highest shorted dividend stocks with a float short of 40 percent or more....

Consumer Dividend Stocks With Highest Float Short Ratios

Consumer goods dividend stocks with highest float short ratios originally published at "long-term-investments.blogspot.com". Consumer goods stocks are often the most preferred source for dividend growth investors. I don’t know why but the consumer sector has the largest amount of stocks with a solid dividend history. They are less volatile and work with good margins. For sure, the growth perspectives are not a good as for technology stocks and the debt is also everything else than slim but they are still attractive.

Today I like to close my monthly article serial about dividend stocks with the highest float short ratio. Here are the links from the serial:

Today I like to look at the consumer goods stocks and excluded stocks with a market capitalization below 300 million as well as stocks without dividends.

My top 20 stocks have a float short ratio between 8.21 percent and 28.92 percent. The highest short selling stock is Pitney Bowes. The company is followed by the auto parts seller Monro Muffler Brake.

Despite the huge number of pessimistic investors, analysts recommended 13 of the results.

20 Basic Material Dividend Stocks With Highest Float Short Ratio

Raw Material dividend stocks with highest float short ratios originally published at "long-term-investments.blogspot.com". Basic Material stocks were the worst performing stock category within the recent six month. The sector had a performance of -0.7 percent while the S&P 500 increased 15.27 percent.

The fear of an economic slowdown mainly caused by China’s slowing growth is the main reason behind.

Investors can benefit from a falling stock price via short selling. Today I like to look at the basic material dividend stocks with the highest float short ratio. I excluded all companies with a market capitalization below USD 2 billion.

The top 20 results have a float short ratio between 6 percent and 32.62 percent. Eight of the results still have a current buy or better rating.

20 Industrials With Highest Bets On A Falling Stock Price

Industrial dividend stocks with highest float short ratio originally published at "long-term-investments.blogspot.com". Today I like to discover the industrial goods sector by stocks with the highest float short ratio. The figure shows the amount of short selling transactions.

In order to exclude stocks with a damaged business model or higher risk, I observe only companies with a market capitalization above the USD 2 billion mark and positive dividend payments. The dividend payments are not necessary but they are focus of my blog. Dividend stocks are less often shorted.

The 20 top results have a float short ratio between 4.0 and 17.44 percent. Industrials are not popular for short selling compared to stocks from the financial sector. Lennar, the residential construction firm, is the highest shorted company on the list.

20 Highly Shorted Financial Dividend Stocks And Which 11 Are Wrong

Financial dividend stocks with highest float short ratio originally published at "long-term-investments.blogspot.com". Financials are in focus of many investors because they have a great possibility to leverage profits and they benefit if the economy starts to grow.

But the whole sector is also very vulnerable for systematic risks. Due to the concatenation of many firms, a bail in of one company can hurt the whole system deeply.

This is also one of the reasons why financial stocks are very popular targets for short sellers. If there develops a rumor, it ends in a bank run.

Today I like to show you which stocks from the financial sector (excluded by ETFs) have the highest float short ratio. My only restriction is a market capitalization of more than USD 300 million.

The 20 top results have a float short ratio between 11.56 and 28.67 percent. The Insuring industry is the biggest industry followed by REITs. Despite the negative view of the investors, eleven of the results have a current buy or better recommendation.

20 Most Hated Dividend Stocks From The Services Sector

Most sold short services dividend stocks originally published at "long-term-investments.blogspot.com". The services sector is a big part of the economy and the financial markets. Roughly 850 companies have a relationship to the sector – That’s around 13.3 percent of the overall market by number of constituents.

Today I like to show you which services dividend stocks are most hated within the financial industry. Investors hate such stocks by selling them short. They believe in a falling stock price and want to profit from it.

My screen includes only mid- and large capitalized companies with a float short ratio of more than 5 percent.

The 20 most hated stocks have a float short ratio between 8.79 and 29.31 percent. Gamestop is the most sold company. Seven of the results have a current buy or better rating by brokerage firms.

8 Utility Dividend Stocks With The Highest Float Short Ratio

Most sold short utility dividend stocks originally published at "long-term-investments.blogspot.com". Today I like to look at the most shorted dividend stocks from the utility sector. I observed only stocks with a market capitalization over USD 300 million and a float short ratio over 5 percent.

Only eight companies have a capital stake with more than 5 percent of short sellers. Utilities are very unpopular in terms of borrowing shares and selling them with hope to cause a stock crash.

I often told that one of the characteristics of a utility stock is the stability. But the price you pay is the low growth and high debt. The capital intensive business model doesn’t allow it to expand the balance sheet without capital increases.

20 Technology Dividend Stocks, Most Shorted By Investors

Technology dividend stocks with the highest float short ratio originally published at "long-term-investments.blogspot.com". Activists often sell stocks short. In the second step, they try to scary other investors in order to get the stock price down and to make some profits.

Today I like to show you which of the technology stocks have the highest float short ratio. The ratio shows you how many shares have been sold short. It’s ever interesting to see which companies have some problems and investors like to speculate on a falling stock price. The higher the ratio is, the bigger the problems of the company.

These are my criteria:
- Positive Dividend Yield
- Technology Sector Relationship
- Float Short Ratio over 5 percent
- Market Capitalization above 2 Billion

20 technology dividend stocks have fulfilled these criteria. I recognized that technology stocks with a high float short are also highly priced but I don’t think that it’s the only reason for the short sale. Companies like Nokia have a tough fight to compete with companies like Apple or Samsung within the smart phone market. The market speculates that Nokia will fail to gain market shares.

13 Highly Shorted Healthcare Dividend Stocks

Healthcare dividend stocks with the highest float short ratio originally published at "long-term-investments.blogspot.com". Selling a stock short is a popular method by investors to make a capital gain in a falling market. If investors believe that the stock price should fall, they borrow shares of the company and sell them on the market in order to hope that the stock price falls much more and that he can buy back the borrowed shares for a cheaper price.
